How to Scan Barcodes and NFC

Updated · GearChain Team

Learn about GearChain's scanning options for quickly identifying and updating inventory and assets using supported barcode and NFC workflows.

Barcode scans identify the item or record used in your tracking workflow. NFC uses a compatible device and tag. Test the labels or tags used by your team before a large count.

Steps

  1. Open the form where the scanned item should be recorded.
  2. Open the scanner and allow camera access when requested for barcode scanning.
  3. Place a clear barcode or QR code within the scan area and confirm the matched item.
  4. For NFC, use a compatible device and the NFC scanning option, then hold the device near the tag.
  5. Confirm the intended quantity or other details and save the record.

Check the result

Verify the saved identifier and item details. For a difficult barcode, improve lighting and label clarity before retrying.
