Keep your team working in GearChain while Google Sheets or Excel receives the inventory data you use for reporting.
Sync runs one way: GearChain → spreadsheet. Editing a spreadsheet does not automatically update GearChain.
Compare Google Sheets and Excel capabilitiesFor Google Sheets, the admin exports first and enables AutoSync. For Excel through OneDrive, both personal and business Microsoft accounts support export and real-time sync.
GearChain maintains the exported inventory data. Keep custom formulas and reports in a separate reporting file because exported data cells and tabs can be rewritten.
Change fields and inventory in GearChain. Avoid renaming or deleting the managed export tabs and headers; export again if you need to rebuild them.
No. The connected sync sends inventory data from GearChain to the spreadsheet. To bring spreadsheet data into GearChain, use the import workflow and review the field mapping and quantity handling.
Importing a file alone does not connect that file for ongoing updates. Confirm the destination spreadsheet or workbook in your export and sync setup.
That edit does not change or delete the item in GearChain. A later app update or export can replace the spreadsheet data, so maintain inventory records in GearChain.
Wait for the import or export to finish, then change one known item in GearChain and check the destination. If updates stop, reconnect the correct account, check the sync switch, and export again.
